Fernanda Lira: Your guess is completely
right! Steve Harris is my top influence of all
time! If I play bass, it's definitely because of
him. I started having an interest in playing
the instrument because of him and also my
dad, and both play bass with fingers, so it
was kinda natural to me. But I also have
other influences that inspired me in other
ways and also taught me new techniques,
like Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath,
Geddy Lee from Rush and Steve DiGiorgio
(Death, Sadus). Plus, all of them play with
fingers. You can now understand why I
play it this way!
Mosh: You’ve mentioned before in other
interviews of your fondness for Napalm
Records. How has it been going so far being
signed to them?
Fernanda Lira: It's been just great. They
help us in many ways, do their best on promoting the band, allow us an incredible
freedom of choice and decision. And most
importantly, since the beginning they
believed [in] the band as much as we did,
and that's just essential. You need to walk
this journey with people who have the same
objectives as you, and when your label
believes in what you do, that's just perfect
and that's why we're thankful to be with
them!
Mosh: What’s next for Nervosa?
Fernanda Lira: We are now on the last leg of
our European tour, there's 14 shows left,
from the 42 when we started it. Then there’s
going be this tour in Canada and US East
Coast in August. Right after that, we go
back to Brazil for around two weeks, and
then we head back again to Europe for a
month tour with Destruction, Flotsam &
Jetsam and Enforcer. Then after that, we
will do some headline shows in the Baltic
countries in Europe and Russia! We love to
be on the road and we want to promote
*Agony* as much as we can all around. So
for sure, the next goal we have would be
touring new territories for the band, such as
Asia, Oceania, etc.
Nervosa appears at Reggie’s Music Joint,
Chicago, on Friday, Aug. 19 at 7p.m.
