Toro’s Nightmare Alley (filming in
Toronto), and Joel Coen’s Macbeth (film-
ing in Los Angeles). All of these films were
in production at the time the pandemic
surged and are in various stages of com-
pletion.
Other notable films forced to push back
production include Rob Marshall’s live-
action version of The Little Mermaid (set
to film in London); Ridley Scott’s The Last
Duel (set to film in Ireland, and Ruben
Fleischer’s video game adaptation of
Uncharted.
As we look for alternative entertain-
ment, streaming services are providing a
welcome relief to homebound fans anxious
for anything to pass the days, weeks, and
possibly months of quarantine. Here are
some "new releases" streaming in April.

he unfathomable situation caused
by the global COVID-19 pandemic
is first and foremost on everyone’s
mind as we shelter in place and practice
social distancing. Our health and safety are
paramount, but we’re also looking for
ways to combat the boredom. Going to a
movie used to be a top favorite activity for
most of us, but with the world’s theater’s
shuttered and Hollywood production at a
standstill, it may be some time before
we’re able to visit our local cinemas.
