ACTION PACKED APRIL By Lori Vernon March 8 • Rated R Directed by Claire Denis In this intense, bizarre and sometimes uncomfortable film by the legendary Claire Denis, Robert Pattinson plays Monte, a member of a crew of death-row inmates tricked into believing they will be freed if they participate in a mission to explore alternative sources of energy. Once on boardthe space ship, they become the reluctant participants in sexual experi- ments conducted by Juliette Binoche. Monte and his baby daughter (Scarlett Lindsey) become the last survivors of a futile and dangerous mission to the outer reaches of the solar system. They must now rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole. Also starring Mia Goth, Lars Eidinger, and Andre Benjamin. Shazam! new “siblings.” He soon bonds with dis- abled “brother” Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer), a nerdy superhero enthusi- ast. After a mysterious train ride takes him to the lair of an ancient wizard, Billy is given special powers by the wizard (Djimon Hounsou). When he says the sor- cerer’s name, he transforms into the adult superhero, Shazam (Zachary Levi). Still a kid at heart, Shazam revels in the new ver- sion of himself by doing what any other teen would do -- have fun while testing out his newfound powers with Freddy at his side. But he'll need to master them quickly I t’s going to be an action-packed month in theaters. The couple soon discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neigh- bor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow) setting off a dangerous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrif- ic consequences. Hellboy April 12 • Rated R Directed by Neil Marshall This reboot of the *Dark Horse Comics supernatural superhero tale stars Stranger Things’ David Harbour as the legendary half-demon Hellboy, who works for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) run by his adoptive father, Trevor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane). While battling a trio of rampaging giants, Hellboy encounters Nimue the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich), an ancient resur- rected sorceress who's out to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy soon becomes hell-bent on stop- ping Nimue without triggering the end of the world. Sasha Lane, Daniel Day Kim, Ian McShane, and Thomas Haden Church also star. Avengers: Endgame April 24 • Rated NA Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), adrift in space with no food or water, sends a message to Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle.
