Rainwater Harvesting System (RWH)
Rainwater harvesting system (RWH) has gradually emerged as a long-term
sustainability solution. RWH systems offer many benefits toward the environment
and economic by using ‘free for all’ resources, the weather, to pay the water bills.
However, there are many obstacles are hampering the growth of RWH technologies
across the world. The aim of this subject is to discuss the interdisciplinary challenges
faced in the RWH systems developments. This includes the involvement of political
issues, the economic development, technical issues and social acceptance. Also,
RWH system is rain-fed, making it very much vulnerable to the changes of weather
pattern and climate change which can be various regionally. Despite weather
favorable places for RWH such as Kenya, lack of associated knowledge and
community contribution can be a problematic issue for further development and
potential negative impact on the environment.
