A conversation with Mehrshad Tajfar The thin line between imagination and reality If there is anybody who knows more about borders in any way, it’s this guy. Mehrshad, who’s a first year fashion student, is a true inspiration when it comes to connecting your life story to your work. He spoke to me about his past, his present and his future and explains the thin lines between imagination, fascination and the harsh reality of the real world. “But I must say, I don’t dwell on the past. I learn from it and try to use it as inspiration for the present” Ok, So lets talk a little bit about the project your working on now. Well, the theme of the project is war. I was trying to find a certain direction that I could go with, since the main theme has so many sides to it. After a lot of research I ended up at the story of the Spanish Matador. The main inspiration was the thought of fear when going to war. You know you might get hurt and hurt another person, but you still make the decision to go through with it. This thin line of confronting death but still staying strong and beautiful, were major key points in my work.
