Be

open-minded about the future.
When you open your mind, you allow yourself to experience new
opportunities and you challenge the beliefs you currently have.
It can be very liberating to look at the world through an open
mind. It helps you to see the good that will come your way. It’s
also important to understand that a drastic change often brings
about a rush of emotion; that’s to be expected. Normalize it and
you will not be too hard on yourself. Open-mindedness helps
you to learn and grow, strengthening your belief in yourself.
Establish a mental schedule and stick to it.
Don’t become complacent over the summer. To the extent
possible, keep to a well-defined mental schedule. Create a weekly
schedule and commit to it in writing. Writing down your goals and
the specific tasks needed to achieve those goals helps to remind
you of what you are trying to achieve. The ideal mental schedule is
multi-faceted; it touches on confidence, relaxation, and focus. Build
the schedule for four to six days, allowing at least one day for rest.

Be creative.
IJGA Bishops Gate has been designed from the ground up to provide
everything needed to get to the next level. Our student-athletes live
on a golf course, in a gated community with access to two gyms,
driving ranges, putting greens and the latest swing technology. Once
they leave here, they will need to get creative with their training if
they want to keep developing as an elite golfer. There is an endless
array of equipment and exercises available to keep training fun and
effective. The trick is to figure out what works best for you.
McMillen believes our graduates have what
it takes to succeed. He said, “If they keep
these three things in mind, refer to Coach
Now for past posts and instructions they will
do just fine. And if ever in a pinch, they can
contact me for guidance and support.” This
a magical point in a high school graduate’s
life. McMillen beamed, “They have put in the
hard work and are well-prepared for whatever
comes their way. It’s their time to shine!”
