an interview with Andrew Summers
We recently sat down with Andrew
Summers, our CEO, to get his
views on our performance this past
school year and the opportunities
that lie ahead for IJGA Bishops
Gate.
What were the biggest
accomplishments this past
schoolyear?
I am most proud of how
positive our students have been
throughout the year. It has been
a year of considerable change.
We started the year with the
integration of the Gary Gilchrest
Golf Academy with Bishops Gate
Golf Academy. There were about
45 students in each academy.
Within a few months, the students
integrated beautifully so that
we didn’t recognize any cliques.
Then, as a result of COVID-19, in
mid-March we brought the Old
Carolina students down to Bishops
Gate and folded the Old Carolina
students in with the Bishops Gate
/ Gary Gilchrist residual which
had come together as the IJGA.
Again, within weeks they were
fully integrated with no cliques or
any sense of, “I’m a stranger on
campus.”
