Welcome IJGA Coach Steven DiNino
Our newest member of the IJGA coaching team is Steve DiNino, a Certified Professional of the PGA of America specializing in teaching / coaching and player development. He is a graduate of the Golf Academy of America and has an Associate Degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management.
He has been in the golf business for over 10 year and teaching for six. Most recently, Steve worked with Andrew Rice Golf at The Club at Savannah Harbor assisting with the coaching of Revolutionary Golf School. Prior to that, he worked as a teaching pro for Todd Sones Impact Golf of Vernon Hills, IL. and Patriots Point Golf Links in Charleston, SC. While at Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts, Steven was an assistant pro and caddy master. Steve regularly contributes to social media in the form of tips and how to improve your game. Originally from Chicago, IL., Steven resides in Bluffton with his wife Elisabeth and 3 year old son Patrick.
The first tournament was played at the Pyo Si Thu Teak Plantation and Bago Yoma Eco Resort, May 24 – 26. Her scores were 76-79-76.
The MWD Bank was the second tournament held at the Hanthawaddy Golf & Country Club, June 15 – 17, and she shot 77-74-75.
When asked about her win and time at IJGA, Angela said,“ I think one of the biggest things about winning was just being patient, that the time will come and also believing that my hard work will pay off. I learned a lot at IJGA. Not only working with great coaches there, but I also made life-long friends. I appreciate those who pushed me to work harder. I am grateful to be able to win representing IJGA, Indiana University, and of course mostly my country, Myanmar.”
Congrats to IJGA Alumni Angela Wang
Congratulations to IJGA alumni Angela Wang( Class of 2017) on her two recent wins in her home country Myanmar. Angela played the first two tournaments of the Myanmar Golf Tour and took first-place in both!
Melany Chong is named All-American Scholar
IJGA Alumni Melany Chong( Class of 2016), and rising junior at Appalachian State University, has been chosen as a Women’ s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar for 2017-2018. Chong was eligible for the honor by having a 3.50 GPA or higher. Chong was a member of the Dean’ s List and Honor Roll her Freshman and Sophomore years at Appalachian State and is a repeat member of the Commissioner’ s List. Last school year, Chong was the individual medalist at the Low Country Intercollegiate, placed second at the Dayton Hilton Head Invitational and finished in the top 10 at the Sun Belt Conference Championship. Chong will compete at the 2018 U. S. Women’ s Amateur in Tennessee, August 6-12. She earned a spot in the competition by tying for second-place, claiming one of three spots at the Toronto qualifier.
