MIND OVER MATTER SID SOMANI In May 2019, just two days before his fourteenth birthday, Sid Somani met with an accident that made him fear the worst: not being able to play golf again. With a broken tibia and fibula, Sid knew it would take a long time before he could swing a golf club again and a recovery would take huge amounts of will and patience. However, he was up for the challenge. After his surgery, the doctors recommended a minimum of 4 months rest as his mobility was extremely limited and made daily tasks such as taking a shower a challenge. 6 The time was unfortunate, it was just prior to his final grade exams and a summer holiday which he was looking forward to spending in Hong Kong with his parents. His mom arrived as soon as she could to take care of him, for which he is very grateful. As an only child, he has been very close to his parents and they were one of the biggest motivators and supporters through the recovery. It wasn’t until mid September that Sid could start making full swings and building out his game
