CONGRATS ALL-AROUND! Congrats to Alex Lamarca Winner of the Optimist Junior Qualifier at Wexford Plantation! IJGA student-athlete Alex Lamarca battled windy and rainy conditions recently to win the Optimist Junior Golf tournament, 2019 Junior Players Golf Academy Open at Wexford Plantation Golf Course of Hilton Head Island, January 19 & 20, shooting a 76-75 for a combined score of 151, winning by two strokes. “I knew going into the tournament the conditions were going to be tough. The only thing I told myself was, play smart, don’t make bad decisions,” said Larmarca. As a qualifying event, Lamarca will advance to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship held at the Trump National Doral Resort & Spa Tournament held in Miami, Florida in late July. Congrats to Michael Katsman Recipient of the 2018 GOLFTEC National Order of Merit presented by TaylorMade (Junior Boys Division) The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) recently announced the winners of the 2018 GOLFTEC National Order of Merit, presented by TaylorMade. The GOLFTEC National Order of Merit, presented by TaylorMade is a ranking system that awards points based on a player’s position at each CJGA event. Events are tiered based on the size and strength of the field. IJGA student-athlete Micheal Katsman (Richmond Hill, Ont.) played in six events collecting 2,563 points during the 2018 season. Posting top five finishing in both the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship and CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship, Katsman never finished outside the top five at an event. He captured the CJGA Humber College Invitational at Diamondback and finished runner-up at the DeLaet Cup Qualifier presented by Georgian College at National Pines. 6 Congrats to Shuya Hagiwara Hole-in-one Congrats to Shuya Hagiwara on his hole-in-one at Chechessee Golf Club, 13th hole. Shiyu was playing with CEO of IJGA Andrew Summers and used his 6 iron to make his perfect shot. Alumni Congrats to Poom Pattrorpong IJGA alumni Poom Pattaropong (Class of 2013) of Thailand and former member of the James Madison men’s golf team, finished fifth in the final stage of 2019 Asian Tour Qualifying School recently earning his Asian Tour card with a five-round score of 19-under 336. Welcome to Darcie Patrick! Darcie Patrick has taken on a new role as Director of Education + Development for International Junior Golf Academy and Bishops Gate Golf Academy. As a Professional Member of Independent Education Consultant Association (IECA) and National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), her educational experience and passion for helping students find the RIGHT fit school to meet their social, emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual needs will lead our student-athletes to the RIGHT college/ university to prepare them for their encore career after golf. Patrick has worked in private school admissions/ administration on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina since 2005. In 2012, she retired as Head of School from Sea Pines Montessori Academy. Since then, she has been working as a College Admission Strategist with CollegeHHI.
