HOW ARE THE PROGRAMS DIFFERENT AND WHAT
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE?
Within the NCAA there are 808 men’s programs
and 566 women’s programs within 3
Divisions: Div. I, II and II. Division I and II offer
scholarships and Division III does not.
At the D1 level, the average golf team size for
men is 10 and eight for women. The athletic
scholarship team limit is 4.5 for men’s golf and
six for women’s golf. The average D1 scholarship
amount for men is $16,199 and the average D1
scholarship amount is $17,114 for women.
At the D2 level, men’s golf has a scholarship limit
of 3.6, while women’s golf has a scholarship limit
of 5.4 spots. The average D2 athletic scholarship
amount for male golfers is $6,247, while the
average amount for female golfers is $7,658.
NCAA D3 golf teams don’t have any athletic
scholarship money but golfers have the
opportunity to get academic scholarship or
fund tuition through financial aid.
NAIA
is
the
National
Association
of
Intercollegiate Athletics and it is an independent

league of colleges and universities that offer
sports programs.
The NAIA has 175 men’s teams and 163 women’s
teams. They have 5 scholarships per team for
men and women.
Another option for college golf is through
NJCAA with is the National Junior College
Athletics Association and is the governing body
for 2-year junior college programs.
There are 62 men’s programs and 21 women’s
programs. NJCAA (or JuCo) schools have 8
scholarships for men and women.
