PLAYING AROUND THE GLOBE
Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Laguna Golf Lang Co in
Da Nang, Vietnam. The course sculpted by Sir Nick Faldo,
recently underwent a few changes with the addition of new
tees, changes in elevation, tightened fairways and firmer
greens. IJSA CEO Lee-Anne Misseldine chaperoned the
players during the trip and tournament play.
Faldo Series Major Champions Invitational
IJGA student-athlete Merlin Dohm recently participated in
the Faldo Series Major Champions Invitational held at Bella
Collina, Monteverde, Florida.
Major Champions Invitational is a junior golf tournament like
no other. Over the course of four days, juniors experienced
first-class treatment, as they would receive at a professional
golf tournament, and enjoyed unique, once-in-a-lifetime
activities after each round — including a golf clinic with Sir
Nick Faldo and Q & A’s with major champions.
Created by World Golf Hall of Fame member and six-time
major champion Sir Nick Faldo, the Major Champions
Invitational strives to provide opportunities to young
people through golf and help identify the next generation
of champions. The invitational was supported by 18 major
champions, each represented by a team of four top-tier
junior golfers.
RACE TO SCOTLAND
IJGA student-athletes Sae Saito, One Kashima, Aaron
Pha and Jantai Malataev had the distinct honor and
privilege to play some of the world’s greatest, top-ranked
golf courses as part of the IJGT’s Race to Scotland over
spring break. Tournament top finishes and a point system
earn students the opportunity to be considered for the
trip abroad. Students played Archerfield Link’s Fidra and
Dirlton, Gullane, North Berwick and The New Course at
Saint Andrews. The foursome was chaperoned by IJGA’s
Assistant Mental Performance Coach Cory Cottrell and had
an incredible experience.
