IICandM Accreditation Coaching and Mentoring Core Competencies | Page 2

IIC&M Accreditation is available for all coaches and mentors who want to demonstrate their quality through an internationally recognised coaching or mentoring standard. Each coach or mentor – new or existing – will be awarded their accreditation when they have demonstrated that they meet the accreditation requirements established by the IIC&M.

The purpose of Accreditation is to:

re-inforce coaching as a professional industry.

re-inforce mentoring as a professional industry.

demonstrate that, as an industry, coaching and mentoring are able to validate their professionalism through the independent requirements defined in each accreditation level.

assure the individuals and organisations that are hiring coaches or mentors, that those coaches or mentors awarded an Accreditation have met or exceeded the accreditation requirements defined for that specific level of accreditation.

assure the students who are selecting a coach or mentor training course that the course has received an independent verification which has been awarded an Accreditation level which demonstrates that they have met or exceeded the accreditation requirements defined for that specific level of course accreditation.

The Accreditation process …

… is a rigorous process and one that ensures the acceptance only of those coaches that have the highest standards; and it is a matter of pride that the IIC&M will only accredit coaches that meet all our standards. Each coach meets the IIC&M’s Core Competencies and signs the Declaration of Integrity agreeing to abide by and uphold the IIC&M’s Standards and Ethics.

Contact the Accreditation Department ([email protected]) for any questions you may have about the Core Competencies or about applying for or upgrading your accreditation.

Coaching and Mentoring Core Competencies

The seven core Coaching and Mentoring Competency Categories were developed to promote an understanding of the skills and approaches that the IIC&M has determined as being desirable in a competent Coach or Mentor.

The competencies listed under each heading are essential for any competent Coach or Mentor to demonstrate and form the basis of the criteria used in the IIC&M’s accreditation process.
