Written Submissions

Examination, Reflection, Contribution, Case Study, Standards & Ethics

Your accreditation assessment is based upon your ability as a coach, your competence levels when you are coaching, and your capability to work with your clients to move them forward in their chosen topic. As part of this you are asked to submit the following written work:

Examination – as the APC accreditation grade is available for coaches who have just completed their training, you are asked to submit a copy of the written work you were required to do as part of your training – your thesis, your final submission, or one or more essays. The work you select to submit should be no less than 750 words in length.

Reflections on Practice – this is a reflection on one of the coaching calls in which you coached a member of the IIC&M’s Accreditation Assessment Team; or you submitted as a recording of your client. It is important to remember that this is your reflection and that this reflection gives you the opportunity to define any Continuing Professional Development you wish to commit to as part of your own professional growth.

Contribution to the Profession – this is your reflection on your involvement or contribution to the coaching industry. We are looking for information on how you have influenced or supported the wider coaching community. This maybe through your written work or you may draw reference to any published articles or books, public seminars/webinars you have run and any research you have completed. You are required to submit a 1,500 word reflection.

Case Study – this is about your approach to or your philosophy about coaching; using a case study to demonstrate your points. Please note: you will not use your clients name or any absolute specifics that would identify your client in this case study. You are required to submit a 2,000 word case study.

Standards and Ethics – you are required to complete a number of Standards and Ethics questions. The answers to these questions are the Standards and Ethics clause references. For applicants applying for their AFM – Accredited Fellow Coach (IIC&M) accreditation, you are also required to submit a 750 – 1,000 word case study on the importance of Standards and Ethics within the Industry.

Reflection of the value of Core Competencies and Standards and Ethics – this reflection is required to those applicants who have not had any formal coach training. They are required to submit a 1,500 word reflection cross referencing to the IIC&M’s Core Competencies and Standards and Ethics.

All written work should be cross-referenced against the Coaching Core Competencies and the IIC&M’s Standards and Ethics. Cross-referencing can be done in the format of footnotes or a bibliography to the relevant core competency and/or Standards and Ethics clause.

All material submitted for your accreditation is confidential.
