IIC Testbeds – A Blueprint for Delivering Innovation and Ecosystems the times of arrival at the incident scene and at the hospital. The partnership covers cloud infrastructure providers, leading analytics providers and M2M sim providers. This is a mission-critical use case that requires high levels of security, resilience and reliability. Our experience so far has shown that the community and partnership approach has yielded benefits in terms of reduced time for the scoping and planning phases. This coalition of business and technical expertise has allowed us to adapt better Design, Data Capture, App Design and Analytics, using short iterations, building customer confidence. Future possibilities that could add value to the Bluelight Use Case include the concept of the ‘connected ambulance’ that positions the ambulance as a ‘hot spot’ for wearables and healthcare monitoring equipment in the ambulance. The goal would be to provide immediate medical information to the waiting emergency teams in the hospital before the arrival of the ambulance. 7. CONCLUSION INFINITE (INternational Future INdustrial Internet TEstbed) encompasses all of the significant technologies, domains and platforms that will form the foundation of Industrial IoT solutions and deployments which include; advanced analytics, cloud platforms, security, networks, mobile M2M (Machine to Machine), wireless and sensors. It is a strategic testbed initiative led by EMC and it was approved by the IIC in January 2015. EMC Corporation is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. INFINITE enables us to examine how we can assemble and integrate our leading products and technologies with our partners’ products to build comprehensive solutions. We are doing this by creating use case-specific solutions and operating our cohesive operating infrastructure, driven by our software-defined framework. Although, INFINITE has only been up and running for a short while, it has already gathered valuable knowledge and feedback from the projects underway. Perhaps the most immediate learning has been in the difference between an initial use case and the final synthesis of how it actually operates. The real-world testbed environment is providing evidence-based feedback that both shapes and evolves EMC’s testbed design as we develop a technical mastery of various solutions. The end-to-end technology requires a great deal of technical expertise, understanding of key use cases and operational excellence where we apply our technology in novel ways as we use EMC's trusted platforms in combination with partners’ technology. We are now collaborating on use cases for Smart Buildings, Healthcare and Manufacturing as we incrementally build a hub of expertise centered on our testbed. The new technology innovation of the future will require novel thinking and approaches to design that will encompass such things as advanced distributed computational models along with the management of many distributed components with the ever-expanding number of smart devices. INFINITE is now the blueprint which enables us to lead, promote and influence Industrial IoT-based innovation and ecosystems. IIC Journal of Innovation - 69 -
