begin in the name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
I the Most High. All praise is due to the One
who created us and sustains us.
Life! A deceiver! A journey
disguised as a destination.
A bridge so deceptively
beautiful that we find
ourselves nesting on
what is meant to be a
pathway. This life is
temporary, a mere
means to our final
destination and
nothing more. The
deception of this life
breeds insecurity
and lack of success.
This deception is why
we become enveloped
in so much disdain
and sorrow, but there is
hope, success is possible,
we just need to focus,
commit and acknowledge
that life is not what the
“influence of the
world” makes it out
to be.
Living my best life
Life can be testing
and overwhelming
at times, but with
the right mindset, purpose and effort, we can
journey on the path to living our best lives. Our
best life starts and ends with acknowledgement;
acknowledgement of the fact that this life will
be filled with trials, hardships, burdens and
difficulties, but also acknowledgement that this
life is temporary, this life is merely a test.
Life is synonymous with experiences of short
periods of difficulty (Dunya – this life) followed
by immense happiness and contentment
(Akhirah – the next life), acknowledging this, is
the first step to success. Next, we need to focus;
focus our sights on the hereafter and being
successful in our akhirah and finally, we must
commit; commit to doing our best to attain that
success.
Hiking some of the world’s tallest mountains
or diving insane depths of the oceans should
also be impossible with the change in
atmospheric pressure and lack of
oxygen, however, countless
people have experienced
the most beautiful,
breathtaking “oh so
worth it” moments at
those destinations.
Even in this
temporary life,
Allah is showing
us that NOTHING
is impossible with
Him.
This issue of
Ihsaan aims to
help us see that
despite our current
state of affairs we
can overcome and live
the best versions of our
life. Acknowledging that
this life is temporary helps
us to feel less overwhelmed as
we know that the
way we feel now
will come to an
end.
Understanding
that Allah wants us to succeed and has, in His
divine decree, put things in place for us to
succeed, brings us comfort. Focusing on our
hereafter helps us to be less Dunya-centric and
become Akhirah-centric, giving us the ability to
see the temporary nature of this life.
At this current stage in our life, the world is
experiencing the Might of Allah! This pandemic
has brought the world to its knees and shown
us all who is in charge. For centuries, humans
have abused all that wehave been entrusted
with by the Creator and now we are scrambling
to make things right. Let us not be among those
who do not take the benefit of this decree. It is
not yet too late, we can start our journey today,
towards living our best life.
Even with this newfound understanding, it
may be difficult for us to believe that we can
come out of this intense difficulty, successfully
or on top, Allah in His infinite wisdom and
mercy has shown us that seemingly impossible
feats are possible. For example, scientifically,
childbirth should be impossible with the levels
of pain and physical changes to the body, but
Allah has made it possible for one gender to
repeatedly experience this “impossible” feat with
the most beautiful and soul-satisfying outcome.
