see our loved ones, or not being able to attend the masjid as we would like, or feeling anxiety to leave home for fear of contracting the virus, we should tell ourselves that maybe by it, Allah will reward us for and remove from us, some our sins. Allah has told us, “Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” [Surah Zumar: 53] Let us take this trial that Allah has sent upon us as a means of drawing closer to Him, particularly during this month of Ramadan, as He has given us more opportunities now that we may have had, had we not been in lockdown. Let us turn to Allah, in Sujood, at the time of Iftaar, after ‘Asr on Fridays, or at any time during this blessed month of Ramadan, and ask Allah to forgive us, have Mercy upon us and lift from us this plague that has gripped the world. Let us use our anxieties, our sadness and despair to draw closer to Allah in ways that cause our hearts to be humbled, and be at peace, for verily Allah again tells us, “Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” Written By: Rochelle Flores
