Editorial I begin in the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most High. All praise is due to the One who created us and sustains us. Ramadhan, a month like no other, a month that 1.6 billion Muslims pray to experience year after year. That’s right; Ramadhan, not Eid. I know what you may be thinking, who prefers hunger, thirst, self-restraint and tiredness over indulgence, food and celebration. Quarter of the global population! And no we’re not crazy. Ramadhan stands for something so much greater than mere deprivation, it is so much more than just fasting. Ramadhan is one of the greatest gifts that a believer can receive; inside that 29 or 30-day package holds a lifetime of reward and forgiveness and Allah (SWT’s) bountiful mercy and blessings. r u o o t e m o Welc Ramadhan (1438) Issue “Whoever fasts Ramadhan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven”(Bukhari) We hope to convey some of the joy and contentment that we experience at this time of the year as we wish that wonderful feeling for each and everyone. That being said, we are pleased to bring you this special Ramadhan issue brimming with inspiring reminders, productive tips, perspective articles, inspired recipes, health and fitness tips and a section dedicated to the little ones so they too can build a love for Ramadhan from a tender age. the blessed month “This is a month, the first of which brings Allah’s mercy, the middle of which brings His forgiveness and the last of which brings emancipation from the fire of Hell.” (Bukhari) The mere mention of the blessed month of Ramadhan sparks so many emotions in a Muslim. It resonates a distinct and unique sense of happiness and comradery, nostalgia and tranquillity and above all a feeling of pure, untainted pleasure in seeking nearness to one’s Creator. Everything we do as Muslims in this blessed month benefits us on so many levels. It brings a renewed sense of self as we struggle against our nafs (ego, self), leaving the pleasures of this temporary life for the benefits of the Hereafter. This beautiful and blessed month presents an opportunity like no other, to recharge our minds, refresh our intentions and re- evaluate ourselves and our progress in attaining Ihsaan (excellence). 6 | Ihsaan | Issue 2 May Allah accept our efforts for His sake alone and continue to guide us at every step to use this platform with the purest of intentions, to bring benefit to the Ummah. May He accept all our Du’as and acts of worship in this blessed month and grant us a life- changing Ramadhan whose ben efits we continue to reap throughout our lives.
