Muhammad ( SAW ) was born in Makkah in the year 571 ( Gregorian Calendar ) as a part of the noble tribe of the Quraysh ; to Abdullah bin ‘ Abdul Muttalib and Aminah bint Wahb .
The family of the Prophet Muhammad ( SAW ) were of the Hashimite clan , named after his grandfather Hashim bin ‘ Abd Manaf . The Prophet ( SAW ) was born at a time when it was custom of the Arabs living in towns to send their children away to Bedouin wet nurses so that they might grow up in the free and healthy surroundings of the desert . This allowed the children to develop physical strength or ablebodies and pure speech and manners as Bedouins were noted for both chastity of their language and for being free from the vices which usually develop in inactive societies .
The Prophet ( SAW ) was entrusted to Halimah bint Abi Dhuaib and her husband Al-Harith bin ‘ Abdul- ‘ Uzza also called Abi Kabshah . There are many stories about the favours and bounties which the family and household experienced whilst Muhammad ( SAW ) was under their care as an infant . The year Muhammad ( SAW ) came to their home , was a year of drought and famine and quite often the Bedouin family would have nothing to eat and their she-camel would not even produce milk . They also had another child with them who would cry every night from hunger .
They constantly prayed for rain and relief from their plight . At great lengths they journeyed to Makkah and noticed that no other wet nurse accepted Muhammad ( SAW ) when he was offered to them . The moment they heard he was an orphan ( as his father had passed away ) they refused him . When
