Left: the courses are conducted in a purpose-built facility. Thanks Jack, keeping reptiles can be a lot of fun! Our reptile and amphibian courses began back in 1998 and have been running successfully ever since. We are proud to have trained thousands of people about reptile care and have helped count- less first-time keepers kick start their journey into the reptile hobby. Promoting responsible pet owner- ship and educating visitors about our amazing native reptiles and their care and conservation drives everything our team does. Our store has a purpose-built ‘pet school’ facility where classes are held throughout the year. We currently hold bearded dragon, python, turtle and frog courses, and each runs for approximately two hours. These provide a complete overview of every- thing you need to know to get started. Topics covered include; species anatomy, distribution and natural behaviour, selecting a healthy animal, enclosure set up, heating and lighting, nutrition and feeding, as well as handling and common health issues. We have many live reptiles available on the day and all course participants get plenty of scaly interaction. Not only are the classes fun, educational and inter- active, but we also provide a detailed care book to take away with you that includes all the content covered in the course (there can be quite a lot to take in). The reptile courses usually run every second month and are always held on a Sunday. They often book out quickly, so if you are interested in coming along you can secure a spot via our web- site under the ‘Pet School’ tab – or jus t click the link in our advert in this article! Throughout the year, we also host specialist guest speakers from the reptile industry including vets, breeders and researchers. These seminars are always a huge hit with beginners and experienced keepers alike, so keep an eye on our website for these special events as well. Hope that helps, Jack; we look forward to seeing you in store soon! Write to Ben care of iHerp Australia if you have a topic you would like to see him cover.
