“ Sir , can you please come with us until this is sorted ?” said the policeman . “ But I have these papers which officials assisted me to prepare ,” I said . “ Yes , sir please just sit quietly in the back of the car ,” they said . “ What ’ s gonna happen to my wheels ?" Sound of trumpets … an hear comes the cavalry in a dark limo … Out hops Peter … flashes some bloody badge or something . Lots of forelock pulling and apologies from the police . I got my first 20kg of seeds , this was huge for me .
Richard was in England earning pounds an hour as an accountant but constantly phoning and being supportive to me .
Phillida of course didn ’ t last long and eventually got booted from parliament ( in my view due to her support for iHemp ). But , I have no real proof of that . Plus , many officials appeared to have gone the same way .

2000 We attempted to get trials going , but was not to be .

2001 Finally got the trials going and there were many , many , times when I wondered if it was worth me continuing . I did get support from my mates however . The support reminded me of my fishing industry days . Divers would ring me in the office and say : “ Yes Mack , you keep beavering away there , so we can go make $ 30k today .”

No matter how easy it looks , there is always some poor bastard beavering away doing the impossible yards and when you get there , folk appear to have just taken it for granted .

Made me enraged to see this fool claiming to be ' The iHemp Pioneers '". Had to calm my son down and explain that “ It ’ s just humans for you .”

2002 We got the first license to deal in cannabis legally and we imported the first 20kg of seeds from Hungary , being Kompolti and Uniko B . When I went to customs on the wharf in Wellington to pick it up , I could see the official looking through papers an books and not finding what he was looking for . So I tried ringing Peter Pratt , chair of the working group as I ’ d told him I believed I would be arrested at some time .

No answer , so I left a message , then rang Dave Nendick Entomologist ( MAF ) who had done the Phytosanitary reports . Ah oh , here comes the Police . Peter Pratt had told me I ’ d only be arrested once .
The funny thing was with Hungary being an the Eastern Block country , they didn ’ t give a toss re : THC content an they both came back from ESR tests showing 5.2 % THC - so we were never allowed to grow them again .
Without Richard and his support I may well have wavered , I ’ m incredibly grateful to
