The Mentor: Anj Handa

Anj Handa is the founder of Inspiring Women Changemakers, she mentors and enables women to lead transformational change in society.

“I mentor women who are leading social change at work, in business, in their communities and the world. I’ve seen the power of sharing by teaching women how to speak up for themselves. Mentoring has helped to propel them forward, it’s a form of sharing, it builds change-makers of the future. All my mentees are now in a place of strength where they feel empowered and in turn will mentor others, creating a more resilient society.

Mentoring is so two-way because I’ve got things from my mentees that they’ve reflected back to me and that’s sharing. You don’t give to get, but it’s a by-product. A lot of men don’t share their emotions because they’re worried about being seen as weak. Older men struggle, because they say what’s my place? Younger men can be more open and giving, so some of it’s generational. If we had a sharing economy, women could participate fully, they’d be empowered through education and job opportunities.”
