After 13 years away from the DRC, Noella returned at the age of 18. It was during this visit, witnessing the abject poverty and the lack of opportunity in this bountiful but strife torn country, that she promised herself to one day make a difference. Around this pivotal time, her life would also take another unexpected and opportune turn, when a friend entered her in a modeling competition, and she was chosen to appear in an ad campaign.
