Maiya is also a Youth Ambassador for Earth Guardians and has created a workbook for young designers -to-be. She has attended the climate change awards in Sweden as part of a panel of young people who are working towards creating awareness and making a difference to climate change. House of Maiya has also created and donated one-of-a-kind costumes for the children receiving treatment at St. John’s Oncology Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, the only treatment center for childhood cancer in Ireland. She has also been teaching workshops for other young people, teaching them the benefits of choosing to live a sustainable lifestyle.

In October, Maiya will travel to the U.S., where she has been invited to speak to school children about sustainable fashion and on being a young entrepreneur. This will be a follow up to her How to Guide, which has already been distributed to over 20,000 classrooms in the US. At present she is working on her new clothing collection, which is going to debut in Virginia Beach, VA. and she will be promoting her sustainable fashion brand and her new limited editions, called Mischievous Clothing. These designs are aimed at the younger demographic and will be youth urban wear.

There are many projects to be announced in the near future, and Maiya is working on creating more ethical fabric designs and production collaboration possibilities, as she continues to spread awareness about how we can all work to be part of the much-needed change. In speaking with Maiya, one gets a real sense of her passion, focus, beautiful intelligence and compassionate heart. She is a young woman to watch!
