The London-based group consists of five members: Niall James Horan, Zain Javadd Malik, Liam James Payne, Harry Edward Styles, and Louis William Tomlinson.
William Tomlinson. The group had an unlikely origin forming on the televised series, The X Factor, where they failed to progress individually and were suggested by Simon Cowell to form a group. After Styles came up with the name One Direction, the young men continued on the show as a group instead of competitors. The group finished the show in third place, but shortly after signed a nearly two million-dollar contract with Simon Cowell with Syco Records. The group quickly flew to Los Angeles to begin making music and the rest is history.
And the group has made history by being the first band in US Billboard 200 history to have their first three albums debut at number one. Number one in the charts and number one in every girl’s heart. This boy band should be referred to as young men as their age group ranges from 20-22, which only makes girls want them more!
