The latest package of measures to better protect bettors in the Netherlands could hinder rather than help efforts to raise standards in the market , a survey of players suggests . While the Dutch government is unlikely to act on a proposal to ban slot games , it will introduce blanket deposit limits from 1 October .
For players aged 18 to 24 , any deposit of € 300 or more will trigger additional checks . Those that fail will be unable to make deposits for the rest of that calendar month . The limit for those over 24 is only marginally less stringent , with checks triggered at € 700 .

The US Supreme Court declined to take up WFA ’ s challenge to the 2021 compact agreed by Florida and the Seminoles , which considers all bets in the state to be placed in Indian country if they flow through a tribal server .
The parimutuel operator would have to go back to the Florida courts to continue pursuing the case . The state Supreme Court has already declined to take up the matter , however . be expected to take action within an hour of a player showing signs of “ excessive participation ”.
The Netherlands Online Gambling Association ’ s ( NOGA ) annual survey of players suggests this increased scrutiny may simply push players towards the illegal market , however .
The Ipsos survey found 48 % of atrisk gamblers would switch provider if they had to show proof of income . In addition , 41 % said they would switch to a different provider if they reached their monetary playing limit .
“ The upcoming stricter legislation is driving risk players in particular to illegal providers ,” outgoing NOGA director Peter-Paul de Goeij warned .
