Welcome to Clarion Gaming ’ s second esports report , which aims to set the tone for 2022 in this rapidly growing and evolving industry .
We ’ re looking to provide a snapshot of the key trends , opportunities and potential stumbling blocks to avoid as esports continues its rapid expansion globally .
For example , political and economic variables could play a major role this year , whether that ’ s China ’ s increasing scrutiny of gaming , or how Indian economic prosperity could have a positive impact on esports in the country .
And , of course , there is ample crossover with the gambling industry – it could even be said that esports has much to learn from real-money gaming . The issue of integrity in esports competitions could benefit from real-money betting operators ’ experience , and their efforts to tackle gambling harms could help reduce gaming addiction .
Equally the real-money industry needs to take lessons from video gaming if it is to engage that customer base properly . All this is covered on the following pages .
