That might change at the margins with the launch of Catena Media ’ s first media deal with NJ . com , which previously was in partnership with Better Collective . But Daly was less than effusive about what working in tandem with another media organisation might mean for Catena in the short to medium term .
“ Catena has been – and will remain – more cautious on these as we see great opportunity in them but only when the partnership and the underlying site ’ s fundamentals ensure profitable developments for us as well as our partners ,” he said .
Chief financial officer Peter Messner did give some further insight into why Catena has gone down that path .
“ What we bring in is the affiliate know-how of monetisation and what the partner brings in is the reach and the traffic to reach the more casual gamers ,” he noted . “ Their value will be a bit lower but is still a bottomline contributor .”
