THE BEST OF NORTH AMERICA

Tumbleweed blows across new state openings … and there’ s no end in sight to Catena’ s familiar woes

As fas as new markets going online it’ s been very much a case of all quiet on the North American front so far this year. And that sound of silence is expected to continue for the remainder of 2025.

Thankfully, activity among the affiliates has punctured the peace with Gambling. com Group reporting a rebound in the region following a 24 % year-on-year decline in Q4 2024. The affiliate grew its North American revenue by an impressive 42 % in the first period of 2025, with full
Group revenue sitting at $ 29.2 million for the quarter.
It was a different story at Catena, however, as its well-documented struggles continued. North America remained Catena’ s primary income source, contributing 89 % of Q1 revenue at € 8.8 million, down 39 % from € 14.3 million in Q1 2024, though steady with Q4’ s € 8.9 million. The affiliate continues to face challenges from search engine algorithm changes, particularly in this market.
Casino revenue in North America was
€ 7 million, reflecting a 20 % year-on-year drop and“ ongoing challenges to achieve sustainable operating gains in regulated casino”. CEO Manuel Stan also highlighted that Catena is closely watching regulatory moves in the social sweepstakes subsegment to prepare for compliance as several US states consider legislation.
Raketech also suffered in the region during Q1 as its US revenue suffered a 65.5 % fall year-on-year, albeit this only made up 6.2 % of the group’ s total global revenue.
