Market stasis in North America but there ’ s movement on the M & A front

There have been no market launches in North America in 2024 – a big change to last year , which saw several openings take place . Most of the biggest affiliates , including the likes Better Collective , Catena Media and XLMedia , made reference to this in their financial statements .

In the affiliate space , the Responsible Gambling Affiliate Association ( RGAA ) opened its door for membership . Previously , the association operated as a closed shop of the biggest US-based affiliates in order to discuss regulation policies and provide a united front to the US igaming lawmakers in each regulating state . As part of the membership , affiliates will pass a yearly audit and receive a standards certification from the organisation to demonstrate compliance and commitment to the group ’ s mission on competitive markets , education , consumer protection , advertising and responsible business practices .
On the M & A front , there was a merger in the US affiliate space as Sword Media and
Apps4 Web Media became GameTime Digital . Stephen McBrinn , founder and CEO of Sword Media is now GameTime Digital ’ s CEO , while Alex Windsor , founder and CEO of Apps4 Web Media , stepped into the CMO role .
Sword Media was previously focused on paid media affiliation , while Apps4 Web Media ’ s operations were based on organic traffic . The merger is expected to help streamline and improve synergies across the business as well as establish relationships with US partners .
