Cisco has released updates patching some 28 bugs,
two of them classed as critical and 12 being classed as
high in Cisco ranking. It’s worth seeking out patches
for all your devices, but the one I would especially look
out for and address as soon as possible is CVE-2018-
0315. According to Cisco, this is a “vulnerability in the
authentication, authorisation, and accounting (AAA)
security services of Cisco IOS XE Software [that]
could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to
execute arbitrary code on an affected device or cause
an affected device to reload, resulting in a denial of
service (DoS) condition”.
Malware
North Korea has been called out again by the US
Department of Homeland Security as being the source
of a new variant of malware dubbed Typeframe.
The DHS has placed the malware under the
‘Hidden Cobra’ banner, which it has used when
referring to North Korean state-sponsored
cyberwarfare attempts in the past. According to the
