1969 Fillmore West New York City - Jimi Hendrix took the stage with Buddy Miles & Billy Cox. This is Jimi in his PEAK performance. Stressed by having to keep up with record contracts and putting together a trio with two blacks. The sound the gypsys made can only be described as a wall of sound, many bands today try and emulate the band of gypsys....which you will find in the "jam band" section of the record store. Black people at this time were not doing ANYTHING like this. Jimi set the bar so high many have not dared to try and reach it. Buddy Miles was an accolplished drummer when he and Jimi met. They played many time in San Franciaco at the Pan Handle park. Jimi and Billy met while in the military. They had been friends long before the
