PROSTHETIC LIMBS STARYTED OUT AS WOOD BUT EVOLVED TO METAL , WHICH EVOLVED TO A ALUMINUM ALLOY CALLED DURALUMIN
The prosthetic limb was used for soldiers that had lost their limbs in the war . It is historically significant because it was used because without it they wouldn ’ t be able to use their lost limb without it . There were prosthetics for legs and arms too . They were initially made of wood but then were made with metal and after a plane accident , a man named Marcel lost his leg . His brother , Charles , an aeronautical engineer , made him an artificial leg out of a aluminum alloy called duralumin , which was half as heavy has wood and sleeker . Although it cost more , it was more durable than wood , hence the name , and saved money in the long run .
