Why are poppies the symbol of rememberence for soldiers ?
Poppes , within the context of the world war , are meant to represent the soldiers , nurses , and many others who sacrificed their lives for or safety . Many poems have been written of these flowers , and their sentiment is very beautiful . Moina Michael is the reason that poppies are used as a symbol of remembrance . It was her mission to make the poppies the national memorial symbol . She wanted to use the poppies as a symbol of peace to make world peace after “ The War to End All Wars ” ( little did they know that world war two was just waiting , watching ). By the WW1 national memorial museum , visitors can see the field of 9000 silk poppies , plus duckboards that soldiers used to protect themselves from the mud , underneath sunderland bridge . each singular poppy represents a thousand soldiers lives lost for the lives we are living today . Truly , poppies resemble peace , sacrifice , death , and remembrance for those who died . Even before WW1 ended poppies opened up the land , ripening the land with their bright red color as the war raged throughout europe ’ s heart . And soon after the war to end all wars ended itself , the poppies rose throughout no-man ’ s land , each dead soldier being represented by a new life ; the poppy . It was made to , over the years , represent the lasting memorial of the immeasurable sacrifice these soldiers had made for our country . We owe them everything , and they have our eternal gratitude , thanks , and remembrance . And it ’ s all thanks to the humble poppy , the poppy lady , ( Moina michael ), and canadian John Mccrae that we will never forget our
faithful , loyal , and humble soldiers .
