Hello my name is Miku Ishi-
hara. I'm a sophomore stu-
dent and majoring English.
My hobbies are eating and
making sweets. Actually, I
often make sweets such as
brownies, cheese cakes, or
cookies for seasonal events. I
will participate in E-pal for the
second time and council for
the first time . I would like to
make events that everyone
can enjoy and make many

みんなさん、こんにちは! I’m
Derek. I’m from Decatur,
Illinois, but I go to school at
Grinnell College in Iowa
where I am a history major.
I’m most interested in study-
ing the Pacific Theater of
World War II. I’m very excited
to have the opportunity to
directly read, listen to, and
learn about Japanese per-
spectives of the war while
I’m in Japan. In addition, I love playing and watching sports, my
favorites being basketball and hockey. I also enjoy listening to
and playing many types of music, and I’m a huge movie fan! So
if any of you are down to hang out, just let me know. I’ve had a
blast getting to know all of you so far! As the semester goes on,
please feel free to talk with me about any ideas you have for
places to go or things to do. I’d love to join, and I will talk with
the council to try and make it happen.
I hope this semester will be great and memorable for all
of you. So I will be hard to work on planning enjoyable
events :)
