7th annual IES quality summit
“At IES, we have a bold vision of what emergency medicine could be, and we strive to be the pacesetter that inspires others,” said Nick Zenarosa, MD, FACEP, founder and chief medical officer of IES. “Through the development of innovative processes and solutions, we seek to improve the way healthcare is practiced across the continuum of care and enhance the role of emergency medicine. Upon completion of the Summit, participants will be able to apply the latest advances in clinical applications, diagnoses, treatments and practice management necessary for enhanced patient care.”
The keynote speaker, Lisa Bielamowicz, MD, president and co-founder of Gist Healthcare, discussed how dynamic industry changes are impacting emergency medicine and, more specifically, what they mean for providers of emergency medicine. This year’s guest speaker, Matthew Wetschler, MD, discussed his personal near-death experience, paralysis, and his remarkable recovery from a November 2017 accident that broke his neck and left him partially paralyzed.
Attendees at this year’s Quality Summit participated in educational sessions including: Neonatal Resuscitation; High Risk Obstetrics; Human Factors and Medical Error: Enhancing Safety; Code Aorta: Ideal Management and Transfer Process; Neuro-Interventional Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Delayed Time Window; and Human Trafficking in Healthcare.
“We are about aligning emergency department operations and clinical quality with our key partners, including hospitals, managed care organizations and accountable care organizations,” said Dr. Zenarosa. “Our goal is to impact patient populations, not just individual patients. We are committed to furthering emergency medicine's role in value-based healthcare. Participants at the event will experience the different initiatives and protocols we have in place, and they will see how we are transforming emergency rooms and using value as our platform.”
The outstanding work of several emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice providers were also recognized at the Summit’s annual awards luncheon.
