Deanship of Supportive Studies INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM(IEP) Curriculum Framework Introduction: The TUELC Intensive English program is useful to working professionals (employees of university) and to students preparing for postgraduate studies. The Intensive English Program offers various sessions yearly. Each session lasts eight weeks. In one year, students should be able to progress through the four-level core program. Classes meet four hours daily, three days per week. The course of study is based on an integrated skills approach with listening, speaking, reading, and writing and grammar components. Fluency and accuracy in both spoken and written English are emphasized. Classes average twenty students. The small class size allows each participant a maximum amount of individual attention and an opportunity to develop conversational skills. Intensive English classes at any specific level, beginning through advanced, will depend on Students’ performance in the placement test. In Levels 1-4, students concentrate on developing fundamental English skills in an interactive classroom setting. Instruction covers all areas of language development: practical vocabulary, basic language structures, and the essentials of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
