IEEE WEEK
October 12, 2015 : To welcome aboard new members and encourage participation, a handful of carefully selected events were organized over the period
of a week to increase interaction among the women engineers of tomorrow.
Starting off with an informal event by the name of Techno-Twister wherein
students were invited to test their general knowledge, coding skills and women entrepreneurs while maintaining their balance on the twister mat, the
event saw excited members all set to test the balance between their brains
and bodies.
Day 2 (October 13, 2015) saw a formal gathering of
students to grasp the concepts of VLSI. The workshop on VLSI Design was organized by IEEE IGDTUW
in collaboration with 3ST Technologies. The students
were given a hands on exposure and a practical implementation on FPGA kits and Xilinx Tool.
Day 3 (October 14, 2015) was all set for an indulging spectrum discussion to cater to the fascination of students towards quantum mechanics.
With a start off from ‘muons,’ ‘bosons,’ and the
standard models of particle physics, the discussion
was kicked into fifth gear with the introduction of
Anti Neutrinos, the most debatable elements of
the century. The discussion evolved around the
ability of these elements to reveal rogue nuclear
programs. The event was a huge success and listeners and speakers alike were left bamboozled
by contradictory theories in the house, which kept
the interest going.
Day 4 (October 15, 2015) invited students to bring
their Arduino projects to display. With the aim of being a learning session, students from 2nd and 3rd year
came forward with their micro controller based projects and gave a one to one interaction to the fresh
students on campus, giving them a hands on experience on how to interface and configure hardware and
software. The event saw an enormous participation
from students of all years and branches who gained
exposure to the vast capabilities of a single chip.
