IEC Initiatives

The IEC , in conjunction with the Inclusive Engineering Foundation , has established the following initiatives as instrumental ways to foster a more diverse and inclusive engineering workforce .

iRedefine Program

The iREDEFINE program was piloted by the National Science Foundation and works to prepare underrepresented minorities and women in PhD programs to pursue faculty positions at universities across the world . By building up minority leaders and women to take on faculty positions , the program expands and improves academia and creates role models for tomorrow ’ s engineers . The IEC has partnered with ECEDHA for this program .

Mentoring Initiative

IEC and the IEF seek to build a more equitable and diverse space for ECE while building relationships between individuals that will further facilitate minorities reaching higher levels in industry and academics . To aid these relationships , the program builds a network of professionals in academics and industry and connects them to undergraduate students . The program will help the mentors and mentees facilitate their relationships through training , programming and support .

Equitable Partnership Program

Bringing together faculty from minority serving institutions , the members strive for collaborative planning and actively invite other institutions to join in equitable and inclusive partnerships . Leveraging the talent and capabilities of the member institutions provides opportunities in research , co-teaching , networking , leadership and more . The organization works to accelerate opportunities for people to meet , learn from and successfully team with engineers from different backgrounds .
