political power. A pressing and recurring topic today for anti-racist activism
is the imperative there is for black and
mestizo Cubans to finally become economically, socially, culturally and polit-

ically empowered, according to the
norms and expectations of international,
human rights organizations. Who
doubts the invaluable role of Associationism could play here? It would be
enough for it to be the fruit of an authentic, resolved, prosperous civil society freed of all hegemonic power.
