about the topic of dialogue, “ which is
not only the practice of mediation, but
also essential to any attempt to reason.”
The author outlines the need for this
practice in the American context, and
uses Colombia, Cuba, United States,
and Venezuela as references in order to
discuss the new climate generated by
the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United
States. He highlights the need for the
changes needed in Cuba to take place,
especially in the area of freedoms, as a
response to this noble action of opening
the way for conversation and discussion
about topics of mutual interest. He then
goes on to talk about the peace process
between the Colombian government and
the FARC, and the political crisis in
Venezuela. When referring to this, he
emphasizes that there aren’t any diplomatic solutions to conflicts, nor there is
a tendency towards better relations between the two governments.
Ashanti Peru closes this issue with its
National Meeting for Young Indigenous
People and Afro-Peruvians Facing Climate Change. Their objectives and projects are focused on empowering young
people and creating a joint action plan
to strengthen their influence on public
policies.
