This was an acknowledgment that there was a
need for a clear declaration concerning what
rights were applicable for ensuring the elimination of all kinds of violence against women in all
its forms. States and the international community
committed themselves to eliminating them.
This is a long-standing struggle, and women in
Cuba have played a preponderant role in it, despite the fact that they have to redouble their efforts to achieve professional results at the level of
their male colleagues.
The Constitution and laws prohibit discrimination
on the basis of sex or skin color.
