nothing was being done, his killer was
kept hidden away, and he was not being
charged with any crime. During the
candlelight vigil the communities’ anger
burst. On television the vigil turned to
protest, turned to riot reminded me of
the last scenes in Sam Greenlee’s book
The Spook Who Sat By the Door, when
the Black revolution started and the
streets were on fire. In Ferguson the
protesters took to the streets burning
and vandalizing local businesses. I
thought the revolution had finally come
to Black America. First I was fearful,
because of the violence it would bring,
then, I thought of the words and might
of Malcolm X- by any means necessary.
