The auditorium
More than anything, my children had a transformative experience. My daughter in particular followed along with the music and eagerly read the translations. During the question and answer session, issues of government, race, and class were raised. My daughter continued to ask us questions
about Cuba, healthcare, race, poverty, living conditions and her father’s experiences in Cuba. She
really wanted to know more. She also took the music from the night before and brought it to her
school for show-and-tell the next day. Because of your support of this event and the venue chosen,
my daughter’s experience affected her friends who want to come the next time there is such an event.
Your events allowed for our family to have an amazing bonding experience as Blacks and Latinos
here in Pittsburgh.
