than a simple infraction: it’ s a crime. And a serious one, since it involves an abuse of the children’ s innocence and a violation of their rights as human beings. It remains to be seen whether the male adult commanding these Havana children to shout against the U. S. President, even knowing the diverse meanings of the term, was fully aware of his offense and his crime. Would he be able to fairly value how much the human race had to advance for having Barack Obama elected president of the world ' s first economic power? Obama is a descendant from the victims of the slavery imposed to African blacks( one of the most opprobrious chapters in human history) and has shown such a professional competence, such a seriousness and such a honesty that he won the electoral favor of tens of millions of American citizens. Of course, this adult was not able to value this, because his intellectual, spiritual and moral development was also twisted during his childhood by other adults according to the law ruling the stultifying spiral of totalitarianism.
3-Factory of mentally disabled people She should be about ten years old. She got dressed in a delicate pink. Her face is tender like that of all the children, but suddenly it becomes a chilling mask of hatred. She is tearing copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights( 1948), while looking up, hostile and defiant, to the small group of Ladies in White and other peaceful opponents who were under siege by violent mobs under the command of the political police. When I see these images of horror, in a video filmed by Estado de Sats that still circulates in internet, the first thing that came to my mind was the scene from the book The Long Journey( 1963) in which Jorge Semprún describes his transfer, as a Nazis’ prisoner, to the Buchenwald concentration camp. The Dantesque train passed through the German towns where rows of Nazi-indoctrinated children were waiting at every station. And Semprun tells that he had experienced the most heartbreaking anxiety when he saw the expression of revulsion in the eyes of those creatures, who complied with the command to hate them without knowing them and without having the slightest idea of the reasons for which they were taken into prison,
4-Seven-headed Hydra In case anyone considers exaggerated the comparison between the children of Nazism and Fidelism, I just want to point out some slight details. It is not in my heart— and I think I don’ t need it— to use extreme standards to try to judge the problems in the Cuban education system. Its consequences are today in view of all who want to see them. Its doctrinal and dogmatic nature has been revealed by itself as time goes by, despite the efforts by prominent people and institutions( more and less deceived or manipulated by the official propaganda and statistics) that are still eager to praise the system as a vanguard of the underdeveloped world and an example of revolutionary panacea. I do not attempt either to establish alarming parallels between the Hitler’ s and Fidel Castro’ s ideologies, as distant in their praxis as coincident in certain historical derivations. The general comparison is not only improper, but also expendable. The mention of Semprun ' s book can then be taken as what it is, a passing reference. Strictly speaking, the substance of these pages requires no other support than the palpable and easily verifiable reality in Cuba. The advantages provided by the program of free, accessible and inclusive schools for all citizens are obscured to the point of disgrace by the political manipulation that the students
