We still live in fluent times, when everything is filtered beneath the doors, and the borders of culture and knowledge are very, very porous. And in fluent times, the cultural clergy only thinks of shutting themselves up its own abbey. The fifth advantage is instrumental. The cultural clergy needs help from the police to validate its points; for validating its points, the society needs just to deepen knowledge and to improve art. The sixth advantage is the mentality. The Cuban society is very imaginative; the cultural clergy has an in-built military mindset. The only possible imagination inside a military barrack is the perverse one. The seventh and final advantage, for now, is institutional. Society can seek protection under the constitution for developing its full potential; the cultural
clergy needs to violate the constitution, anytime and everywhere, in order to prevail. In view of the cultural discourses spreading in our fluent times, the pill gets wet. Probably the discourse variety responds much better, aesthetically speaking, to the inevitable fragmentation of the Cuban social body. Each sector creates its own message and aesthetics, which can be integrated into the social game through rules that are shared and respected by all. However, although I ´ m a genetically programmed optimist, I do not want to mask the following data: we have lived trapped by the geopolitical determinism, now we are falling into the trap of economic determinism and the next one— it should be warned— will be the trap of cultural determinism, all of them set by the United States. What about the Lucas Awards? That ' s fine, but the Grammys seem to be better. So, let’ s run, because Christianity and alcohol are still mixed... Without its drawbacks?
