What is HIV/AIDS

HIV ( human immunodeficiency virus ) is a virus that kills or damages cells of the body's immune system , HIV is spread by sexual fluids or unsuspecting relations , the other way of getting it is by the blood of people already living with the virus . AIDS as most know it stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. This is the most advanced of this infection point .

Is it important that people are informed ? Why or why not ?

I believe that being informed is the first step to combat disease , since being informed of things you can avoid or control them. An informed community is ultimately a healthier community. The information provides knowledge and being informed you can make more moves to combat and prevent it from growing .

Where did it originate ? Where was it found ?

The first AIDS case was in Africa in 1959 but it was not until 1980 when he came to the United States when a group of people ( who were probably related to drug use and homosexuality) went sick. The causes of deaths were from diseases of the immune system and is spread by sex or by using the same syringe used for drugs. It was discovered in the 80's by American doctors were noting that there were groups of patients with rare diseases. The first cases occurred in New York and California

What are the professions that have a higher risk of contracting HIV ?

Anyone is vulnerable to contracting HIV but IDUs ( injecting drug users ) are more more likely to get HIV from syringes to drug use . Also people who have unprotected sex are at risk of being infected . One of the professions that are most at risk are the prostitutes, because they are exposed to have relationships with people who do not know and do not know if they are HIV infected . Surgeons are also at high risk of being infected because carrying out an operation with a carrier any accident could eventually cause contracting the virus.

How can AIDS be prevented?

To prevent AIDS one must know how the disease is transmitted and any doubt be tested , and if you have an early diagnosis achieved a different approach to how to treat it .

Does AIDS can be transmitted to the children ?

If indeed . When a man infected with the virus has sex with a woman who is healthy this can spread and transmit the virus to the baby that is forming a her belly , just as when a woman is infected can infect the man who is healthy. Only condoms can prevent the spread but this does not stop there fertilization. Today this technique sperm washing they get rid of the viruses that may be present in the body fluid. When the mother is not infected , the sperm washing technique after an artificial insemination procedure can get healthy children while avoid infection of the mother. But if the mother is infected and that for some reason your placenta did a good job and acted as a barrier and not allowed to pass the virus to the baby is very important that when the baby is born not breastfed her mother because through the milk can spread .

When the virus enters your body our defense system creates antibodies that attack the virus without success, but these antibodies appear only when you are infected with this virus in specific , so doing a blood test is very easy to tell if someone is infected . Being HIV positive means to have the virus in your body but this will not affect your immune system, may take months or years without the virus show symptoms. Over time if patients who are seropositive untreated infections that can covirtan this in AIDS. Therefore all patients with AIDS and there are seropostivos super small group of people who are HIV positive but never develop AIDS , but they are so few that are not considered a variable of AIDS.
