LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
I am delighted to be part of IDEA-Diaspora magazine. We are living in the era where content is king and the
seriousness of this axiom has been amplified by the digital moment we have to embrace. To some scholars,
the notion “Diaspora” underscores that the world no longer has boundaries that people can exist outside the
borders of their country and still be connected to the motherland by and the host-land by an identity rooted
in culture, values, beliefs and world view.
IDEA Diaspora magazine is a platform where all of us irrespective of where we are domiciled, can learn from
the experiences of people who live outside the boundaries of their motherland. It is not a walk in the park to
start life in a different country and be part of Diaspora. This takes inspiration, selflessness and hunger for
success.
Sometimes, things do not always follow the expected path. In Diaspora, there are people struggling living pay
check to pay check. There are people in Diaspora who are still tarmacking, looking for that dream job. There are
people in Diaspora who day in and day out, work more than two jobs to make ends meet. This community has
incredibly-unique stories and experiences that I believe we can all tap from. IDEA Diaspora magazine aims to
bring all these stories to you
IDEA- Diaspora magazine is borne out of the need to
Inform, Develop and Empower Africa. Our aim is to
tap into the knowledge and experience of Kenyans
living in Diaspora by creating a platform where they
can share their insightful stories, and act as
contributors on selected topics meant to equip the
society with current information on various spheres
of life in Diaspora.
IDEA Diaspora Magazine will act as a key source for
information on life in Diaspora. We will
strive to provide information to Diaspora Kenyans
on jobs opportunities, investments opportunities,
scholarship opportunities for students as well as
other opportunities that Diaspora can avail.
