We are also aware that there is section of our fans who may not appreciate, to a larger degree, the content of our music. But our intention is never to cause any apprehension to our music. We are out to entertain, inform, educate and where possible provoke society to confront issues of the day. What you have to remember, above everything else is that we are also Kenyans who go through the same ebbs and flows of life that other people go through. We see what is going on in society. We experience all these things. However, we have a platform through which we can express these events that are within our environment-through music. While we feel honored to have been nominated for the BET awards, we also realize that it will take time before African artistes are given the recognition they deserve. But we are cognizant of the fact that life is made up of steps. Sometimes baby steps are too small for ambitious musicians to endure or keep up with. Nomination, however, is the starting point. If we keep producing good music, if fans keep voting and supporting African artistes, we shall send a strong signal to other parts of the world including organizers of such award shows, that African artistes command a fanatic following and should be ignored at one’s own risk.
