EAL
At ICS we have a strong English as an Academic Language ( EAL ) program . Being an international school representing over 60 different countries , our program is robust and personalized . Students with little to no English language skills will receive additional support to bring their skills up , to ensure full benefits of our academic program . At ICS we utilize both a push in and pull out approach depending on the individual need .
SPEECH THERAPY
Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders . Our licensed speech therapists use various techniques to improve communication . These include articulation therapy , language intervention activities , and others depending on the type of speech or language concern .
Speech therapy at ICS may take place in a classroom or a small group , or one-on-one , depending on the speech concern . Speech therapy exercises and activities will vary depending on a child ’ s needs . Therapy will model correct sounds and syllables for a child during age-appropriate play to teach the child how to make certain sounds .
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational therapy ( OT ) can help improve a student ’ s motor , cognitive , sensory processing , communication , and play skills . We have a licensed occupational therapist on staff at ICS that conducts therapy that is tailored to a child ’ s specific needs . To do this , we use everyday activities , exercises , and other therapies . OT helps kids play , improves their school performance , and aids their daily activities . It also boosts their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment .
